Solar Radiation Management Center
The Israel Solar Radiation Management Center leads the national implementation of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI). We work to reduce global warming through the creation of a controlled atmospheric shield over Israeli skies.
Climate models indicate critical warming in the Mediterranean basin. Emission reduction alone is no longer sufficient; active cooling intervention is required.
Stratospheric Aerosol Injection disperses reflective particles into the upper atmosphere, reflecting a portion of incoming solar radiation back to space.
Operating under Government Resolution 2847, the program is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Israel Meteorological Service, and leading research institutions.
The SRM system operates through a multi-layered approach combining atmospheric dispersal with advanced monitoring networks across the country.
Specially formulated reflective particles are prepared in controlled laboratory environments.
Aircraft release the aerosol payload at altitudes of 18-25km in the stratosphere.
A nationwide network of atmospheric monitoring stations tracks particle concentration, UV levels, and weather patterns 24/7.
